The Graduate Certificate in Information Security (GC-IS) is offered by Athabasca University's School of Computing and Information Systems.

This certificate is intended for students who already possess an undergraduate degree, are normally working in the IT sector, and are seeking work specifically in the information security sector.  Once the certificate is completed students will be qualified for positions in the following areas: Computer Security Specialist, Computer Specialist, Information Technology Specialist, Security Analyst, and System Analyst.

The program is designed for individuals looking for a highly relevant and immediately applicable, short-term learning project. It is a comparatively low-cost and low-risk alternative for individuals who have been away from formal learning for some time. The program also provides opportunity to ladder directly into the Master of Science - Information Systems (MSc IS) program.
